A board meeting of Anatel held July 17 approved issuance of a fixed-line license to AT&T Latin America. (The Portuguese-language acronym of this license is STFC). AT&T applied for licenses to offer the service in six numbering areas where it currently has points-of-presence: 11, 21, 31, 41, 51, and 61, for metropolitan São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Curitiba and Porto Alegre respectively.
