Embratel has retained MS & CR2, a management consulting firm owned by Maria Silvia Bastos Marques (ex-president of CSN), Cláudio Coutinho and Carlos Guedes (partners in Banco CR2). According to Jorge Rodriguez, president of the long-distance carrier, the idea is to review both organizational structure and business strategy as the Brazilian telecoms industry enters a new phase in which competition in both local and long-distance telephony is intensifying significantly. Embratel will be the recently founded firm?s first client. Ms Bastos Marques will work directly with Jorge Rodriguez and other top managers.
