Telefonica quashes Embratel?s injunction, resumes domestic long distance

Telefonica has resumed long-distance service to all parts of Brazil for subscribers in its own region (São Paulo State), after winning an order from Judge Marli Ferreira of the Federal Regional Court for the Third Region (TFR3) that quashed an injunction granted by the 15th Civil Court in São Paulo canceling the authorization issued to Telefonica by Anatel June 28. The plaintiff in all these suits is incumbent long-distance carrier Embratel, which successfully litigated against Anatel?s original grant of an extension to Telefonica?s local license but has now apparently lost this particular battle of writs.
