Carlos Henrique Moreira, CEO of Telecom Americas, has defended the development of a national model in wireless telephony to ensure the inclusion of low-income consumers. ?We must take advantage of our immense domestic market. That?s what the Chinese and Koreans have done,? he said Friday, April 11, at a Rio de Janeiro seminar on Telecoms Challenges in Brazil. Low production costs should enable Brazil to manufacture affordable handsets not just to satisfy demand at home but later on for export, he said. The idea was backed by Communications Minister Miro Teixeira.
