The Brazilian delegation to this week?s CITEL meeting in Fortaleza, Ceará, presented a plan for frequency arrangements (harmonization of air interfaces) under IMT-2000. Brazil recommends implementation of the plan by all member countries of CITEL. The proposal submitted by Anatel calls for utilization of the following 3G bands, in accordance with ITU recommendations: 806 MHz-960 MHz, 1710 MHz-2025 MHz, and 2110 MHZ-2200 MHz. According to Francisco Carlos Giacomini Soares, vice president of the Brazilian delegation and Anatel?s general manager for certification and spectrum engineering, implementation of these arrangements throughout the Americas will facilitate worldwide compatibility and create scale economies.
