The board of Brasil Telecom S.A. (BrT) approved last week additional investment of 40 million Brazilian Reals in ADSL during the current year. The number of broadband subscribers is now expected to reach 140,000 by end-September, three months earlier than the original projection. ?We should have 220,000 ADSL subscribers by the end of 2002,? predicted BrT?s CEO Carla Cico during an international teleconference with equity analysts on Monday, August 12. At the end of the first half BrT had 101,500 active ADSL lines.
