According to Anatel board member Tito Cerasoli, Telefonica and TIM as well as Telecom Americas have asked for implementation of long-distance carrier selection codes to be postponed. Cellular telcos that migrate to PCS are supposed to have the codes up and running by May 31. All four telcos have asked for at least an extra four months, he says. Under the dialing system now in force, users have no choice of long-distance carrier. Anatel was to decide Tuesday, March 11, whether to extend the deadline or allow the current system to coexist with the new one.
