Unbundling simply isn?t feasible in the residential voice segment according to Luiz Guilherme Schymura, director-general of Anatel. He was speaking at a seminar on Telecommunications: Competition & Policies in São Paulo Tuesday, September 9. The remark comes after his recent statements that the telecommunications market is rarely competitive. Mr Schymura repeated that Anatel aims to promote competition in corporate services. As for residential services, it will make more rigorous use of antitrust regulation. Under no circumstances will the local incumbents be allowed to merge or engage in takeovers, he stressed.
