Obeying the injunction awarded to Embratel, Telefonica São Paulo suspended delivery of domestic long-distance service on the morning of Wednesday, July 10. The service had begun only a week earlier. The injunction was granted by Judge Luciana da Costa Aguiar Alves of the 15th Civil Court in São Paulo, suspending Anatel?s authorization. The Federal Regional Court for the Third Region (TFR3) hasn?t been notified of an appeal yet, nor has Anatel taken action. Its prosecutors and lawyers are working on the case but haven?t decided whether or how to seek a review of the order. The Communications Ministry has asked the Office of the Solicitor-General to find a solution. Telefonica confirmed suspension of the service in a press release but didn?t say whether it will take legal action against Embratel.
