Anatel has certified fulfillment of Intelig?s coverage obligations in advance of the December 31 contractual deadline, enabling the competitive long-distance carrier to apply for additional licenses. The relevant documents were filed with Anatel on June 27, 2001. Intelig?s contract calls for 38 municipalities with more than 500,000 inhabitants to be covered between 1999 and 2002 with interconnection points or points of presence for interconnection. Anatel published the certification notice signed by Marcos Bafutto, head of public services, in the Federal Register (Diário Oficial da União) on Monday, August 5.
