Following intense lobbying by mayors and ISPs the Government agreed early this week to remove from the tax reform a provision subjecting Internet service to state-collected ICMS tax. A draft of the bill (PEC 41) had already been approved by a special committee of Congress. It passed the lower house on first reading in the early hours of Thursday, September 4.
