Embratel asks Anatel to fine Brasil Telecom 50 million reals

Embratel has applied to Anatel to halt certification of Brasil Telecom (BrT) for completion of universal access targets in the states of Acre, Goiás, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Rondônia, and Tocantins.
Embratel?s petition was filed with Anatel?s universal access oversight department on Tuesday, May 27. It had previously contested BrT?s performance during a public consultation.
This complaint goes further by formally requesting an administrative proceeding against BrT, which could mean a fine of 50 million Brazilian Reals. Embratel also demands compensation for damages caused by its competitor.
