Accenture hired to create single register of fixed-line telephone subscribers

In the coming weeks Accenture, the well-known firm of business consultants, will sign a contract with Brazil?s fixed-line telephone operators for the first stage of a project to create a single national register of subscribers. Accenture?s responsibilities will include modeling a company to manage the database, with proposals covering budget, legal configuration, telco shares in equity etc. This information comes from sources close to the competitive bidding procedure organized by Telefonica?s Eduardo Navarro, VP for corporate and regulatory strategy, although neither Accenture nor Telefonica has disclosed the winner?s name. The register will include data on more than 38 million fixed-line subscribers nationwide and be accessible to all operators. Anatel accepted its creation as a solution to one of the problems preventing the award of long-distance licenses to Telefonica.
